A while back I told you that we were planning a kitchen and family room remodel, right? If you missed it, click here.
After months of researching, planning, and selecting materials demo day was upon us! Our contractor promised completion in 30 days. And naturally, everyone scoffed at that timeline. I admit, I was a little worried when our ugly kitchen got even uglier. I teased you here with a few pictures on a Wordless Wednesday. I’ll tell you, I could see through the kitchen wall into my dining room. Oh gosh, was this renovation ever going to get done?
Have you ever remodeled your house? We essentially were living upstairs during the repairs. And though my best intentions were to BBQ for dinner, we mostly dined out or on pizza delivery. The dust and dirt was just too much to bear for this wannabe clean freak.
I was pretty much over strange dudes my daughter knew by name coming in each morning. By week two, I didn’t care to even get out of my pajamas when they got to the house in the morning. And I didn’t apologize for the crazy bed head either.
But, as promised, 28 days later it looked like a kitchen again! And while it’s not completely functioning (still waiting on cabinet knobs and drawer pulls) it’s pretty much awesome.
Here are some before shots:
Builder’s original kitchen
Totally useless center island
This couch completely cut the room in half
Same blah color scheme we had in our previous house
Builder’s original powder room
|Garbage disposal with rotten flaps
so food would shoot up at you when you turned it on
Square white tile with dirty white grout
The island had great storage but you couldn’t dine at it
The formal living and dining room
|The girl couldn’t resist riding her
scooter in the unfurnished house
The tile floor. It’s been nice knowing ya.
Come back on Thursday to see the after photos! You’ll be amazed! I might have even tweeted a sneak peek of the kitchen last weekend via Instagram. Did you happen to see it?
