Someone was recently telling me a story where I ended up feeling insulted. I don’t believe this person was intentionally trying to make me feel bad. I think they thought that since I am accustom to making fun of myself that they thought it would be OK too. Wrong. I smiled politely and walked away regretting that I didn’t punch that person in the throat.
Watch what you say, people. Or you might end up on a someecard!

I have a friend that is absolutely masterful at the double-edged comment. Drives. Me. Nuts.
Sorry to hear that. I hope it was not me… I don’t remember saying anything like that to you yesterday. Hope your back is feeling better.
HEIDI! It was NOT you, promise. And it happened a long time ago but I just got around blogging about it. You’re so funny!
Ah the double edged compliment. My MIL is the queen of these. The funny thing is, I don’t even know if she KNOWS what she’s saying. Sigh… some people.
I’m horrible at comebacks. I think of them about 30 minutes AFTER the person is gone. And they are always REALLY good comebacks. I never get to say them. Ever. *sigh*
Hmm, it reminds me of when people say “Don’t take this the wrong way, but…” You know tht means there’s only one way to take it.
It’s so, so true isn’t it?
Words sting, and my comebacks always pop up much, much after the conversation is over.
Le sigh.
So sorry this happened to you!
Never, ever forget… you do not have control over what someone says, only how you process it. Don’t let it bother you because I doubt the person was intentionally trying to hurt your feelings!
I know. She just did it again recently too. I definitely let it bother me. Need to learn to shake these things off!!
I’ll kick her arse. I can extend you the Friends and Family rate!
